Comment:Β Twenty-eight years ago, as I walked down the Street, carrying an emotional load to heavy for any Sixteen year old, I met a woman. Initially, our meeting was brief, but as time elapsed; this woman became my friend. At this time of my adolescence, I began to keep company with this woman who showed me lots of love, though we had recently met.
As I experienced familial turmoil and depression, I was often overwhelmed and in tears venting to my new friend; who invited me to attend church with her. Being Sixteen, I wasn’t sure of what to expect. Though my life had clearly many signs that God was with me, I had yet to develop a personal and spiritual relationship with Him.
Entering the red brick building with my friend in the heart of Mattapan, I fell in love with the choir, the people, most importantly the Message. I felt at home, a feeling I had not experienced too often (Rom 10:17).
My new friend, Hope, inspired me at a young age to live for God, to listen to Godly music, to surround myself with Godly people, to dedicate to Him, all that I am. Hope wiped my tears, and held me in prayer and encouraged my young spiritual walk (Matt 18:20).
Attending church with Hope, led to my learning songs such as “You Can’t Make me Doubt Him” and “I Am Here” by Commissioned, along with several others providing spiritual strength. My life while still difficult, was greatly changed by being in the presence of a God-fearing woman.
A such a pivotal point in my life, Hope remained a friend indeed (Heb 13:2). I know in my heart that God sent my friend Hope, as a reminder of just that (Jer 29:11). Over the years, my friend and I have been blessed, we’ve suffered loss, faced sickness, poverty, broken relationships and troubles in our homes; still one thing has remained, the Lord, Our God(Isa 40:29-31).
When facing trials, I can always turn to my friend, my Sister in Christ, to pray in agrreance with me for healing, provision, protection and strength. I am so happy that othera will share God’s grace on Hope’s life and her obedience to bring others to Christ. May Our Lord continue to use her for His glory, and may she be richly rewarded (Heb 6:10) (2 Pet 1:4) Amen.
